About Rūḥ
raised across
the world
Rūḥ is an award-winning British artist and designer whose work has evolved across multiple disciplines over more than two decades. Originally trained in fine art, the London-born artist pursued Graphic Design at the renowned Central St. Martins College of Art & Design, with a focus on illustration and film. His diverse body of work spans from traditional painting to digital interactive animations and videos. Recently, he was honored by the Crown Prince of Dubai for his contributions to the arts.
In 2003, Rūḥ fulfilled a lifelong dream by traveling to Egypt to study the traditional art of Arabic calligraphy, dedicating several years to mastering the craft. Under the guidance of some of the leading calligraphy masters of our time, he deepened his artistic practice, adding a new dimension to his work. Rūḥ is particularly known for developing his own calligraphic script styles. As a designer and passionate typographer, he has created his own typefaces and pushed the boundaries of modern Arabic type design.
His work has been exhibited in galleries both in the UK and internationally, with his most recent exhibition held in Sharjah, UAE. Rūḥ has also made media appearances, including on the BBC’s documentary The Hidden Art of Islam, BBC Radio's Asia Network, and various YouTube channels.
Rūḥ is also the founder of Archetype, a creative agency that has established itself as a leading specialist studio catering to Arabic, Middle Eastern, and global Halal markets in the West. His agency has a successful track record, handling large and high-profile commissions for both local and international clients, including Netflix, Channel 4, BBC, the National Portrait Gallery, and luxury brands in the Middle East. In addition to his client work, Rūḥ conducts branding and design workshops and actively participates in cause-driven collaborative projects with other artists and designers. He divides his time between Dubai and London.
