the world
Rūḥ is an award-winning British artist and designer with a dynamic career spanning over two decades and multiple creative disciplines. Born in London and originally trained in fine art, he refined his craft at the prestigious Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design, where he specialised in Graphic Design with a focus on illustration and film. His versatile portfolio encompasses a rich blend of traditional painting, digital interactive animations, and video art, reflecting his ability to seamlessly merge classical techniques with contemporary media.
In 2003, Rūḥ realised a lifelong dream by travelling to Egypt to immerse himself in the traditional art of Arabic calligraphy. Over several years of dedicated practice, he honed his craft under the mentorship of some of the most renowned calligraphy masters of our time.
This transformative journey not only deepened his artistic expertise but also inspired him to create his own distinctive calligraphic script styles. As an advovate of digital calligraphy, Rūḥ often uses technology and mixed media to enhance his work. As a passionate typographer, Rūḥ has developed unique typefaces that have pushed the boundaries of modern Arabic type design. His innovative work has been showcased in prominent galleries in the UK and internationally, with his most recent exhibition held in Vienna, Austria.
Rūḥ’s contributions have also gained recognition in the media, including appearances on the BBC, many podcasts and international TV channels, further cementing his reputation as a trailblazer in the field.
Rūḥ is the founder of Archetype, a renowned creative agency specialising in Arabic, Middle Eastern, and global Halal markets. The agency has earned a stellar reputation for delivering exceptional work, managing high-profile commissions for clients such as Netflix, BBC, Spotify, YouTube, Google, the National Portrait Gallery, and many brands in the Middle East.
Beyond client projects, Rūḥ leads branding and design workshops, sharing his expertise with emerging talents and professionals. He is also deeply committed to cause-driven collaborations, working alongside other artists and designers to create impactful, purpose-led projects.
